Would you be interested in music experience sessions for your child?
We are in discussions with a new provider, Matthew Richards of Engage and Immerse, and would like to find out from JIGSAW members who would be interested in 1:1 sessions after school? Given the new lockdown these would have to be delivered virtually for the time being.

These sessions would be subsidised by JIGSAW and comprise of 6 sessions, one a week for six weeks. If you’d like to find out more or have further questions/queries, please get in touch with us via email at events@jigsawthornbury.org.uk

Matthew uses music to create opportunities for wellbeing through positive communication, interaction and creative expression. Sessions involve everything from sing-alongs, drumming and rhythm games, computer music, instrument-making, sound bathing and improvisation, and focus on fun, dynamic play and reciprocity.

Matthew had this to say about his online sessions: ”These are challenging times but in the absence of physical contact we can still lever the capacities of music to foster personal growth online. Since the first lockdown I have delivered over 400 online music sessions!”  He has made a short video with more information.

Here’s what carers who help their clients access his online service have to say:

  • ”Matthew’s person-centered approach to his online sessions creates a safe space for us to explore soundscapes and feelings in a fun, sensitive and compassionate way”
  • ”My Cousin has been having music sessions with Matthew for over 4 years & absolutely loves them! Being able to continue them virtually since March has been great for him, it gives him something to look forward to twice a week and a sense of normality whilst being stuck indoors.”
  • ”Matthew’s online sessions have been a godsend for us. During lockdown, especially, they were the absolute highlight of our week. Matthew comes highly recommended by us and many others – we can’t imagine life without him now!”
