There are many reasons to start journaling for mental health at any age. It helps track emotions and behaviours, problem solve and plan, as well as, name our worries and fears. Naming and getting thoughts, emotions, feelings and behaviours down on paper helps to tame the physical and mental responses to stress and anxiety. The Project 5 Journal has been developed both as a standalone tool and something which runs alongside JIGSAW Thornbury’s ‘Project 5 Programme’ of 6 sessions for children from Y5 to Young Adults. The Journal is simple, practical, fun and informative, providing children with easy reminders and tools to do, read and think about to develop resilience and support their mental wellbeing.
