Could you be the piece of the jigsaw that will lead and develop our organisation as we continue to grow support for children and young people with additional needs or disabilities, and their families, to connect, fit in, and thrive?

We are seeking a permanent Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for our charity following the decision by our founder Tor Goodman to step down as CEO and leave the organisation last June.  Hattie Clayton, our previous Chair of Trustees, has been holding the reins as Interim CEO since this time and our board of trustees is now in a position to recruit for a permanent leader for the next financial year.

You would need to clearly demonstrate passion for our cause, strong leadership, and the ability to showcase our values both internally and externally. We are looking for someone who can nurture existing relationships and develop new ones with a focus on growing out newest ‘Youth Empowerment’ service delivery area.

Our CEO needs to continue to deliver against our 5 year plan. They must support, lead, and develop our expanding team of staff and volunteers, and mature a wider and more diverse income strategy.

JIGSAW Thornbury turns 10 this year. We have worked with over 850 families over the last decade and with 122 families joining between April – December 2022, a 33% increase on member numbers, we know that the need for our services continues to grow. We started 15 new initiatives this financial year, therefore our CEO must have project and change management experience to lead the embedding of these services in a sustainable way and support the team to plan for future projects.

We have a clear governance structure that was signed off by the trustees in March 2022. This is based on 3 layers of protection to make sure we achieve our charitable purpose. We have recently developed a bespoke project management framework based on 6 key factors to enable the effective flow of information between these layers, so that every team member can see where they fit in and feel empowered to make informed decisions.

Having been through multiple changes over the last 2 years, JIGSAW Thornbury needs someone who will lead the charity into a time of stability and future growth, as well as embedding new ways of working that support this governance structure.

We are proud to be a team with lots of lived experience of our cause. The CEO would need to have a good understanding of this to work with the JIGSAW team and families in a compassionate, innovative, and empowering way which celebrates uniqueness and encourages everyone to join in with our own and the wider local community.   Words our team would use to describe the perfect CEO for JIGSAW Thornbury:

Approachable, calm, committed, confident, efficient, empathetic, engaging, enthusiastic, fabulous, flexible, friendly, inspiring, kind, motivational, passionate, patient, positive, supportive, and trustworthy.
