Everyone at JIGSAW Thornbury is delighted to have been chosen as winners at the Thornbury Mayor Awards 2025, organised by Thornbury Town Council.
At a special awards evening at Thornbury Castle some of our staff team and Grace, one of our young volunteers, were presented with the award for Community Hero Organisation. This was a wonderful occasion to celebrate the life changing impact of our charity for our families and to be recognised for ‘exceptional achievement, effort and service within the community’.
The nomination for JIGSAW in the Mayor Awards included the ‘voice’ of some of our young members and we wanted to share one of their messages to show what we do in your community!
JIGSAW has meant a lot to me growing up as it is a place I can go to without feeling judged and misunderstood. Also, being a young volunteer has pushed me to do things I would never have been able to do without JIGSAW being there supporting me all the way. The opportunities they have given me are very special as being a neurodivergent young person in this society is very challenging but with JIGSAW I can be myself and prove everyone wrong. JIGSAW changed my life for the better.
Hattie, our CEO, was also a finalist in the Community Hero individual category for consistently going above and beyond to ensure JIGSAW families are supported, advocated for, and welcomed into the community.
Members of our staff team and young volunteer Grace enjoyed a special two course meal at the awards ceremony on Wednesday 19th February, where they were presented with the Community Hero Award in the organisation category.
Thank you to everyone who nominated and voted for us!  We’re so grateful to all our supporters without who we wouldn’t be able to achieve our impact in the community without you!
