Over the last 18 months, we have gathered passion and ideas from staff, volunteers, families and other key stakeholders. All of this has been brought together to form our first ever strategy and business plan. Our strategy captures the unique and brilliant impact of our special charity and our plan sets out how we will continue to build on our experience to bring benefits to the families we support over the next 5 years. We are very excited to share this important milestone with you by launching our plans.
JIGSAW stands for Joining In, Growing Support, Awareness and Wellbeing. Each year, we plan our services and everything we do as a charity to bring JIGSAW to life for our families and supporters. This year, our plans include starting new support groups, making our venue more accessible, doing more community fundraising, and offering more activities in nature. You can see all the details of our strategic review and plans for the year here. Click on the pink text below to see the slides.
JIGSAW Thornbury Strategic Review and Business Plan Launch
We know that we can’t deliver the impact we do without the ongoing support of those who champion our charity. Annie Holland, our Vice Chair of Trustees, has summarised this very nicely:
‘‘The JIGSAW trustees appreciate that without our many and varied supporters JIGSAW would be missing a piece. To our supporters, volunteers and staff, please know that the trustees are enormously grateful to you for all that you do. Over the past year JIGSAW has put in place operational and business planning which further binds all parts together with the aim of meeting our charitable purpose and our motto so central to our logo and our ethos, ‘You Fit In’, and you do!’’
This month, we have been holding JIGSAW June events to launch our plans and thank our supporters for the vital part they play in achieving our vision that all children and young people with additional needs or disabilities and their families are empowered to connect, fit in, and thrive as themselves. This has included a volunteer brunch, a supporters event, and a community stall, which have all been held from our home in the heart of Thornbury. Thank you to everyone who attended these events, it was lovely to bring people together to celebrate the past and get excited for the future.
It wouldn’t be right to launch our plans without recognising the person who has made this all possible. Our inspirational, fun, and compassionate Founder, Tor Goodman, has poured so much into making the world a better place for families who have children with additional needs and disabilities. In stepping down from the CEO role, Tor is leaving a legacy like no other. What started as a support group in a church hall is now a thriving charity with 400 families a part of the JIGSAW community and a diverse range of services that empower everyone to join in.
Thank you, Tor, for everything you have done. I personally have taken so much inspiration from you, as I’m sure many people have. I feel confident that we will do your dream justice by continuing to bring life-changing benefits to families who have children with additional needs and disabilities by living by the values of JIGSAW and delivering our plans for the future.
